functions: reporting to the financial controller.
duties and responsibilities:

• responsible for the timely closing of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end, including preparation of journal entries and reconciliations;
• supports the preparation, review, and analysis of financial statements;
• plans and conducts analysis of financial data to support significant accruals, accounting entries and related reports for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting;
• supports and assists with the year-end audit, including interaction with the external auditors and preparation of client deliverables;
• provides assessment of existing and proposed financial plans and policies;
• proposes, develops and implements changes to ensure organization achieves financial targets;
• supervises accounting staff;
• monitors and ensures maintenance of accounting software applications/systems;
• research and documentation of accounting issues;
• other duties as assigned by the controller;

qualifications:

• requires an accounting designation (cima or equivalent) and 3-5 years relevant experience in a similar role;
• strong understanding of gaap;
• deadline oriented;
• superior analytical skills with a high degree of accuracy;
• superior written and verbal communication skills;
• proficiency in ms-office products;
• knowledge of ms dynamics (great plains) and frx an asset;
• aviation industry experience is an asset;
